Tottenham Hotspur v Everton – Match Preview and Betting Tip
Tottenham’s quest to regain their Champions League status, having had such an excellent campaign in the competition just two seasons ago, reaches a critical juncture this weekend. Spurs firstly face an Everton team who are also pushing for a top four finish at White Hart Lane, before travelling to the Etihad to play Manchester City next week. If the North London club are still in the top four once these two tricky engagements have been negotiated then they will be favourites to secure a return to the competition next season.
Everton have once again performed above expectation under David Moyes, and retain an outside chance of claiming a top four slot themselves. The future of Moyes is far from certain, though, with a lot of sources speculating that he will leave the club at the end of the season. At present, though, there don’t look to be too many jobs open to the Scotsman that are more attractive than Everton, certainly in England, with Arsenal and Manchester United having very settled managers, to say the least, Chelsea seemingly ready to welcome back Jose Mourinho and Manchester City more likely to look abroad should Roberto Mancini leave the club.
Both sides will be at full strength for this fixture, although Spurs may need to shuffle their pack a little this week, with a Europa League quarter-final to contend with on Thursday. Nonetheless, one can be certain that the incomparable Gareth Bale will start both games and will carry a lot of Tottenham’s hopes with him. Everton will probably field the same team that saw off Stoke City by one goal to nil at Goodison Park in their previous Premier League fixture.
