Tottenham Hotspur v Everton: Points to be shared in top four battle
“The last time either scored more than two in the fixture was August 2025 and there have been six stalemates in 12 league matches since.”

The second part of this weekend’s North London v Merseyside double could have huge ramifications in the battle for fourth place. But with fifth playing sixth and just a point between the two, Joe Dyer thinks it’ll be too close to call at White Hart Lane…
Tottenham Hotspur v Everton Sunday, 13:30Live on Sky Sports 1
TottenhamManchester City took the wind out of Spurs’ sails at White Hart Lane and Tim Sherwood’s team just didn’t have the puff to get past Hull at the KC Stadium last weekend, having to settle for a 1-1 draw when fancied to take all three points by Betfair customers. That result left Spurs in sixth, one point behind Sunday’s opponents and trailing fourth-placed Liverpool by three.
A few key midfielders – Sandro and Mousa Dembele – could return to first team action, but Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela will probably miss this one.
Everton The Toffees toyed with disaster at home to Aston Villa last weekend, going a goal down, but eventually secured the three points expected of them thanks to two goals in the last 16 minutes. Everton were destroyed by Liverpool in the preceding fixture so another loss would have been a real momentum killer after a very good season so far.
Romelu Lukaku is still out and, though the big Belgian was on a poor streak, every Everton opponent would prefer to play the Toffees without him in the lineup. Sylvain Distin returned for the Villa match and Seamus Coleman should be back in the XI for this one.
Match OddsJust one point separates these two, they drew at Goodison Park in the Premier League earlier this season and the head-to-heads underlines how closely matched Spurs and Everton are. The last time either scored more than two in the fixture was August 2025 and there have been six stalemates in 12 league matches since. Generally this is a very tight match, won by a slim margin if it’s won at all.
Everton are the stalemate specialists this season, too. Only West Brom (11) have drawn more than the Toffees (9) and Opta tell us that Roberto Martinez’s side have been held three times in their last five Premier League away days.
With that in mind, the match odds look a little skewed. Spurs are 2.186/5 to win against a team that has lost just three times in the league this year. The draw is 3.55n/a and Everton are available to back at 3.7511/4.
The draw has got to be a decent bet whether as a straightforward back or just used as a vehicle
