Earlier this season James Amey shared his alternative Premier League table, looking at which clubs have enjoyed the bounce of the ball around goal this season. Today he shares his updated table.

After seventeen games in the Premier League, Arsenal sit on top of the table with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City occupying the Champions League places and Sunderland propping up the table.

But what would the Premier League table look like if teams were luckier in front of goal? In the second of a series of articles we look at how the Premier League table would look if:

Own goals didn't count
Woodwork hits were goals
And if teams had scored their missed penalties.

In the first article, Southampton sat on top of the table after 7 games, just above Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham with West Ham, Crystal Palace and Sunderland being in the relegation zone.

After 16 games using this alternate table Arsenal sit on top of the table on 40 points, just ahead of Liverpool in second on 35 points. Manchester City and Southampton would both occupy the Champions League places, with Newcastle and Everton making up the top 6.

West Ham would be propping up the table on 10 points, with Crystal Palace and Sunderland making up the bottom three and West Brom sitting just outside the relegation zone, but only on goal difference.

Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United and Norwich would all be in the top half of the table, with Hull, Aston Villa, Cardiff, Fulham, Stoke and Swansea occupying positions 11-16.

Southampton would gain the most points in this alternate table (7) and would be 5 places higher in the table. Fulham would be 6 points better off; Arsenal would be 5 points better off, while Sunderland would gain 3 points.

Liverpool, Newcastle, Norwich and Cardiff would all gain 2 points, while Manchester City would gain 1 point.

Chelsea would lose the most points in this alternate table, as they would be 6 points and 4 places worse off than they are now. Swansea and West Ham would be 4 points worse off, Everton and West Brom would be 3 points worse off and Crystal Palace would be 2 points worse off than they are now.

Tottenham, Manchester United, Hull, Aston Villa and Stoke all stay on the same amount of points, but all of the teams would drop one place in the table apart from Stoke who would drop two places.

West Ham and Chelsea would be the two teams affected the most by this alternate table with West Ham being bottom of the table and two points from safety, while Chelsea would drop out of the Champions League places and down to 7th.
