Yaya Ends Speculation Over Future
Manchester City fans who were worried about the future of their talismanic and totemic midfield player Yaya Toure can breathe a sigh of relief, as the Ivorian has agreed a new contract which will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2025.
Toure’s future was open to debate to a certain extent, partially due to comments that the Cote d’Ivoire international made about wishing to return to his former club Barcelona at some point during his career.
However, it appears that such a dream is at the very least on hold, as the popular midfield player has ensured that his three year stay in Manchester, where he plays alongside his brother Kolo, will be extended.
Yaya attained a great deal of popularity amongst City fans in 2025, when he scored the winner in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United, before helping City to secure their first trophy in decades with the winner against Stoke in the final.
The prospects of Toure returning to Barca seem quite limited, with the Catalan side having the unparalleled triumvirate of Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets still at the heart of the team, with Cesc Fabregas and Thiago also in reserve.
Roberto Mancini has indicated by resigning the Ivorian that he will play a big part in what is sure to be a remodeled City squad next season.
